Indians top the list of nationalities seeking the best value on hotel tariff deals, paying an average of Rs 4,950 when they travel domestically, says a Hotels.com report. According to the latest Hotel Price Index (HPI) report by Hotels.com, while travelling domestically, Indians paid Rs 4,950, making them the nationality seeking the best value domestically. Headquartered at Texas, USA, Hotels.com LP, is an affiliate of Expedia Inc and an online accommodation booking website, with almost 220,000 properties around the world, ranging from international chains and all-inclusive resorts, to local favourites, as well as bed and breakfast residences. However, while travelling internationally, the average room tariff paid by Indian travellers is Rs 8,216, place them in the top 20 list of nationalities who are among the biggest spenders. Swiss travellers pay the highest with Rs 11,430 for a night on an average while travelling domestically, followed by Norweigians at Rs 10,438 and Singaporeans at Rs 10,150. Australians are in the fourth place spending Rs 9,401 and travellers from Hong Kong were ranked seventh, spending Rs 7,854 on an average, while Brazilians are at number eight, spending Rs 7,818, making them the most generous domestic travellers in Latin America. Travellers from Sweden and Denmark are at No.5 and 6, respectively, spending average room rates of Rs 9,235 and Rs 8,481 for domestic travel. When it came to top spenders travelling overseas, the Swiss paid the most, with an average of Rs 9,833, followed by Norwegians in the second place at Rs 9,610, the US in the third place at Rs 9,605 and Japan in the fourth place at Rs 9,580. Among international travellers, Australians bagged the No. 5 position spending Rs 9,486 and the Chinese are at No.8 spending Rs 9,253, on an average. Brazilians are at No.6 and Argentinians are at No.7, paying on Rs 9,465 and Rs 9,347 on an average, respectively, while travelling overseas.
