INDIANS DISCONNECT FROM WORK ON HOLIDAYS

Most Indians find it easy to stay away from their mobile devices while on holiday and try to use the time to forget about work, a recent global travel industry survey result released here today said. The Hotels.com global survey, which looks at digital holiday habits across 28 different countries worldwide, explored nations which found it most difficult to achieve work-life balance or switched off while holidaying. According to the survey, India came in the last place, with only 20 per cent of respondents being reluctant to switch off their phone while on holiday. However, Indians seem to want access to social media no matter where they are, the survey said. Thai travellers have been named as the least prepared to give up mobile devices while on holidays, the survey said. For a huge 85 per cent travellers from Thailand, the thought of going on holiday without their beloved gadgets is unacceptable, the survey said. Other travellers least willing to ditch their devices while on holiday are Koreans, with 78 per cent, followed by Japanese at 69 per cent and Chinese, at 67 per cent. The survey also said that among India's top 10 most important travel items, the passport was most important, followed by smartphones, while travel insurance and sunscreen creams came in the third and fourth place, respectively. The survey revealed that when it came to those who are most likely to exaggerate their holiday experiences, the Chinese came on top, with 67 per cent of respondents likely to lie to friends and family after returning home. Close behind in the second place is Germany with 64 per cent and Korea in the third place, with just under half (48 per cent) admitting that they would embellish a story to impress others. India came in the seventh place with (40 per cent) admitting about lying about their adventures.
